Matisse contour drawing

*A line is a moving dot.
It is the recording, the history of a movement using a marking device. Therefore, A line is the history of a movement, a gesture, an observation, a visual communication and even an expression.
*A line makes a letter or a character as in Chinese painting or calligraphy.
*A line is the first element of art, maybe the most important element of art.
*Lines do not exist in nature. They are instead the edges of two shapes coming totgether.
*A line has qualities and characteristics. Thick, thin, light, dark, fast, slow, they direct,
They point, the divide, they surround and they can be implied. They conveyemotion and mood. They can be graceful and they can offer grace. They can be manipulative.
